The current highest bid for a similar painting by Bach lies above €11,000 Elvira Bach's painting 'Erdbeere in Neuenhain' [Strawberry from Neuenhain], executed in 1998, is a typical neo-expressionist work of the painter. The strawberry is a recurring subject in the artist's oeuvre. By implementing strawberries, cherries, salads and other foods in her works, Bach deals with her home village Neuenhain and its rich nature that inspired her imagination from the beginning of her career. Another characteristic element of Bach's paintings are self-portraits, which she includes in many works and thus addresses the subject of her own femininity. The painting is signed and dated 'Elvira Bach 1998' on the reverse. It is in very good condition, showing only the lightest sign of wear. The image size is 40 x 30 cm. The overall dimensions, including the frame, are 41 x 31 cm. Elvira Bach (b. 1951) Elvira Bach was born in 1951 in Neuenhain, Germany. Belonging to the Berlin group of the artist movement 'Junge Wilde', she is known for her colorful and expressive depictions of women, which mostly represent herself. Bach studied at the Staatliche Glasfachschule Hadamar and at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. She went on study trips to the Dominican Republic, Senegal, Saint Lucia and Italy.
