The figure sits with stretched arms over its head in the right half of the multi-folded sheet. In the left half three masks form the compositional counterpoint. The colors are different than usually in paintings of the artist - not colorful bright but kept in subdued, harmonious tones. The work on paper is signed lower left in pencil 'Bach 86'. Along the edges the sheet is somewhat creased and overall in good condition. The full-sheet image measures 78.6 x 104.7 cm Elvira Bach (b. 1951) Elvira Bach was born 1951 in Neuenhain, Germany. Belonging to the Berlin group of the artist movement 'Junge Wilde', she is known for her colorful and expressive depictions of women, which mostly show herself. Bach studied at the Staatliche Glasfachschule Hadamar and the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. She went on study trips to the Dominican Republic, Senegal, Saint Lucia and Italy.
