Warren Eaton/Bloomfield, N.J. on an old label affixed to the stretcher Oil on canvas 12 1/8 x 16 inches Provenance: Private collection In the 1890s and early 1900s, Eaton painted in and around Thompson, Connecticut, a rural community adjacent to the Rhode Island and Massachusetts borders. In the 1910s he moved to a studio in Colebrook, a tiny hilltop village on the other side of the state in what might be loosely termed the Litchfield Hills. Colebrook Meadows is a painting of the region, whose undulating hillsides are to this day variegated with cornfields and pastures. C The Spanierman Gallery, LLC
