작품 상세
Charles Warren Eaton American, 1857-1937 Road through the Woods Signed Chas. Warren Eaton (ll); inscribed as titled on an old label affixed to the reverse Oil on board 10 x 8 inches Provenance: Private collection, PA A leading figure in American Tonalism, Eaton shared a passion for quiet rural scenes rendered in the Barbizon mode with his friend George Inness. In this canvas, Eaton accentuated the vertical of the canvas with a symmetrical arrangement of tall white pines that frame the sunset. Its shimmering glow, held mandala-like in the center of the work, contrasts with the darkened road that heads into a dense forest. C The Spanierman Gallery, LLC
