Signed and inscribed 'LEHMBRUCK DÜSSELDORF' and with the foundry mark "DÜSSELDF. BRONCEBILDGIESSEREI G.m.b.H." lower right. One of three casts in bronze. Lifetime cast.This is an early and rare work by Lehmbruck, which still reveals a distinct eclecticism. The artist repeatedly devoted his attention to projects for funerary monuments. The relief "Junge Liebe" (Young Love) was planned for a child's monument. The whereabouts of the plaster version are unknown. There are also two casts of a somewhat larger version in bronze (cf. Schubert 19.B).
