Splashes of color emphasize additionally the dynamics of paint application. The black ground of the tinted paper let glow the green, red and orange. The serigraph in colors is signed and dated lower right in pencil ‘Prachensky 01’, and numbered lower left in pencil ‘48/199’. The sheet hinged to a backboard at the reverse upper corners and is in very good condition. The image measures 54 x 43.7 cm, the sheet 78.3 x 54 cm. The framed dimensions are 83.5 x 59 cm. Markus Prachensky (1932-2011) The artist was born in Innsbruck, Austria and moved to Vienna to study architecture at the Academy of Art. As off 1953 he also took up the subject of painting. From the early 1980s until his retirement in 2000 he was professor at the academy and the head of the mastery school of painters. He is regarded as one of the most important representatives of the Austrian avant-garde and the informal art movement. Prachensky exhibited his work at the Documenta II in Kassel as early as 1959 and many international exhibitions were to follow.
