This artwork by Markus Prachensky is part of his series titled "Senatus Consultum" that he created in 2005. Vivid, thick brushstrokes in red create a linear architectural design, which is painted in a rapid motion on black handmade paper. Every unique acrylic drawing of "Senatus Consulutum", which translates into "Adjudication of the Senate", reminds of the building structures in Ancient Rome. The two letters S. and C. are on the reverse of every Roman coin and stand for the fact that it has been approved by the Roman senate. According to Prachensky the inspiration for the series is taken from a mix of experiences and views of Rome, as well as an interest in Roman coins. The individual paintings are however not a representation of any particular building or place in Rome. Upon inspecting this cycle of work it quickly becomes apparent how much it is influenced by the architecture of Ancient Rome. Markus Prachensky once stated: "Wherever in the world I would be, since my youth I have always lived in Rome." This series of work can therefore be seen as a sentimental gratitude to the city that has influenced his life and work above any other. The work by Markus Prachensky is in very good condition. It is mounted at the top of its matte and comes in a metal frame. The dimensions framed are 93.5 x 82 cm and the dimensions of the sheet are 70 x 62 cm.
