Willroider’ Dimensions: 41 x 29.5 cm Provenance: Private collection, Bavaria Good condition Condition: The painting is in a good condition, consistent with age. Faint craquelure on the paint surface can be seen. The edges have light marks, where the frame has rubbed. There is a small abrasion on the lower part. Inspection under UV light reveals scattered areas of retouching. The dimensions of the stretcher are 41 x 29.5 cm. Ludwig Willroider (1845-1910) Ludwig Willroider was born in Austrian Carinthia in 1845. He received his first painting lessons by his brother Josef Willroider. In the mid-1860s he left Austria to study at the Academy in Munich where he was educated and inspired by Eduard Schleich the Elder (1812-1874) and Adolf Lier (1826-1882). In addition, he belonged to the circle of Christian Friedrich Mali (1832-1906) and Anton Braith (1836-1905). Willroider received several awards for his exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace.
