Karl Hauptmann / Feldberg / 1934".Karl Hauptmann painted this motif of two Black Forest farmsteads with a brick house and a small watermill in a snowy winter landscape several times. Cf.: Hötzel-Dickel, cat. no. 85 (illus. 98, p. 139) or cat. no. 95 (illus. 99, p. 140). The present work unfortunately displays particularly prominent and early shrinkage cracks.
