From a slightly elevated point of view the observer looks at a farm, which is located on the slope of the mountain, flanked by fir trees. The extensive sky area bathes the valley and mountain landscape in a soft evening glow, creating an idyllic and romantic landscape. The painting is signed lower left 'K. Hauptmann'. It shows slight shrinkage cracks, which does not affect the appearance, otherwise it is overall in good condition. The image measures 72 x 91 cm. The framed dimensions are 88 x 107 cm. The frame also shows slight signs of use. Karl Hauptmann (1880-1947) Karl Hauptmann was born 1880 in Freiburg im Breisgau. He was educated in Munich and Nuremberg and since then worked as a freelance artist. After his military service, he settled on a cottage at mountain Herzogenhorn, where maintained his studio until his death.
