Oskar Moll (German, 1875-1947) German painter and printmaker Oskar Moll was born in 1875 in Brieg, Silesia. He began painting at the age of 22, studying under Lovid Corinth, Walter Leistikow and Henri Matisse. His work combined elements of French Impressionism, Fauvism and Cubism into a characteristic abstract formal vocabulary of intense colour, mainly painting still lifes and landscapes. In 1914 he became a member of the ‘Free Secession in Berlin’, followed by a professorship at the Academy of Arts and Crafts, where he was Director until its closure in 1932. He then taught at the Dusseldorf Art Academy, but was dismissed in 1933 by the Nazis from the civil service. Back in Berlin, an exhibition prohibition was granted and he was defamed as a ‘degenerate artist’. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
