Private Collection, Florida. note:/span Raised on a Solebury farm outside New Hope, Mary Elizabeth Price was, along with Fern Coppedge, the best known of the female Pennsylvania Impressionists. A floral still life with a brilliant gold leaf background, "Dahlias and Lustre" is a quintessential example of Price's most celebrated work. This painting came through Ferargil Gallery, a New York gallery owned by her brother, F. Newlin Price. The Price family was well represented in the art world as her other brother, R. Moore Price, was a known frame-maker and her brother-in-law was the Pennsylvania Impressionist Rae Sloan Bredin.
