Stoitzner is famous for his mountain sceneries and the surrounding villages. He showed great skills in the detailed depiction of his motifs. In the present painting this talent is evident in the representations of the cows and the farmer, who were portrayed by the artist with particular attention for detail. In front of this large-scale oil painting, the viewer can get the impression to be right in the middle of this farm. One can almost smell the fresh country air! Lower right are the signature, location and date 'Konstantin Stoitzner Bramberg 1931'. The painting is in good condition with some signs of age and wear. The colour surface shows some stains and paint flaking in places, especially on the edges. The painting was recently cleaned. The gilt ornament frame is in good condition with minimal wear. The overall dimensions, framed, are 99 x 119 cm. The stretcher frame measures 80 x 100 cm. Konstantin Stoitzner (1863-1934) Konstantin Stoitzner was born in Chrostau (today Chrastavec in the Czech Republic) and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He belongs to a true dynasty of painters: His brothers Karl Siegfried (1866-1943) and Rudolf, as well as his son Josef (1884-1951), his nephews Otto (1889-1963) and Siegfried Stoitzner were also painters. Even the wife of Siegfried, Clara Stoitzner, was a painter. Konstantin Stoitzner worked in Vienna as a freelance artist and was the head of the Association of Austrian Artists between 1914 and 1923. He received numerous awards and was already very successful during his lifetime.
