Oil on canvas Austria, around 1920 Konstantin Stoitzner (1863-1934) - Austrian painter Signed lower left, "Konstantin Stoitzner" Elaborate black frame Measurements, framed: 107 x 130 cm Good condition The founder of the Stoitzner painters dynasty is famed for his mesmerizing still lifes; comparable artworks fetch up to 14,000 Euros at auction. This large oil painting by the Austrian artist Konstantin Stoitzner shows two dahlia bouquets in front of a dark background. The larger bouquet is inside a turquoise vase with golden bronze mounts. The brown clay pot with more dahlias stands right next to it. There are also flowers scattered on the table, emphasising the abundance of flowers. The gilded frame and columns in the background are further evidence of opulence. The flowers were painted by Stoitzner with great feeling, capturing their tenderness, energy and liveliness on the canvas. The painting by Stoitzner is in good, age-related condition. The coat of paint displays considerable craquelure and was coated with a varnish (not in the area underneath the frame). The canvas is rather thin and is waxed on the back. The elaborate, black stucco frame is in good condition with light traces of age and wear. The painting is signed "Konstantin Stoitzner" lower left. The overall measurements including the frame are 107 x 130 cm; the stretcher measures 88 x 110 cm.
