The oil painting impresses due to the very natural interpretation of the sea, where two boats fight against the wind and the waves. The painting is slightly soiled and shows a touch up in the upper right corner. There is a small spot in the lower left corner and the cardboard is slightly visible. Partially, the canvas shows some transparent raised stains. The frame shows major traces of age and wear. The overall dimensions are 76 x 49 cm (framed) and 67 x 40 cm (cardboard). Holger Drachmann (1846-1908) Holger Drachmann was born in 1846 in Copenhagen where he studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. After his studies, he worked as a journalist and dedicated himself to the art of poetry. Holger Drachmann is one of the most popular poets in Denmark. He is also a well-known artist and mainly painted seascapes.
