Partly they are almost vanishingly thin, partly executed in a broad stroke. Larger open areas also alternate with densly drawn. Spattered paint additionally sets interesting compositional accents. Sonderborg is one of the German painters of the Informal Art, but he was also influenced by the American Action Painting. In his work, he developed a very unique style. Condition: The canvas is glued along the top edge to a support (reversible). The work is in good condition. Occasionally minor craquelure visible within the representation, otherwise overall of very good impression. The dimensions are 50 x 30 cm, the frame dimensions 70 x 50 cm. K.R.H. Sonderborg, born Kurt Rudolf Hofmann (1923-2008) Born as Kurt Rudolf Hoffman, in 1951 Sonderborg took the name of his birthplace as his artist name. He studied at the Landeskunstschule in Hamburg and took private lessons with the painter Ewald Becker-Carus. In 1953 he joined the artist group ‘Zen 49’ to. Under the influence of the American Action Painting and the French Tachism, Sonderborg developed his own style, which shows dynamic movement and rhythm in mostly black and white drawing. Sonderborg exhibited in 1958 at the Biennale in Venice and in 1959 and 1964 at the documenta in Kassel. In addition, he taught in Germany as well as abroad, and received many awards.
