Based on the constructivist art, Scheggi's works feature a geometric imagery that was implemented in the first half of the 20th century especially in painting, but also in sculpture and architecture. Scheggi started manufacturing metal objects in 1958. Established in Milan as of 1961, he became acquainted with important, like-minded conceptual artists, including Lucio Fontana, Agostino Bonalumi, Piero Manzoni and Max Bill. In the course of a rejection of the traditional style of painting, these object artists explored the relationship between painting and sculpture as well as architecture and space. The work at hand is a single Element - a Prototype - for one of Scheggi's mostly very large-format works. The Sculpture element was a personal gift which the artist made to the original owner. The sculpture is in good condition with fine scratches, areas of abrasion and soldering marks on the inside. The dimensions are 10 x 10 x 10 cm. Paolo Scheggi (1940-1971) Born in Florence, the artist Paolo Scheggi received his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. In 1961, he settled in Milan and studied the work of Lucio Fontana. He became acquainted with several conceptual artists, including Agostino Bonalumi, Piero Manzoni and Enrico Castellani. In 1966, Scheggi was represented at the 33rd Venice Biennale. In 2013, the Associazione Paolo Scheggi was launched in Milan.
