Very good condition Portraying James Dean on the set of the 1956 film "Giant," this photograph by Frank Worth depicts the actor dressed as his character, Jett Rink, sitting behind a wire fence. Set before a barren Western landscape, Worth captures a vulnerable Dean as he rests with his hand to his forehead, lost in thought. It was through his friendship with the actor that Worth was given behind-the-scenes access on the set, as the two shared a mutual interest in sports cars. "Giant" was Dean's last film before his untimely death, and also earned him an Academy Award nomination for his role. Executed in 1955 and printed later, this archival pigment print is numbered twenty-five from an edition of forty-eight. With the artist's estate blind stamp, the sheet measures 40 x 30 inches. Frank Worth (American, 1923-2000) American photographer Frank Worth was renowned for his intimate candid portraits of Hollywood actors and actresses. In an era when most stars limited themselves to carefully posed portraits, Worth's black and white images provided unique images of celebrities. Born in New York City, Worth moved to Hollywood in 1940, quickly becoming close friends of many top stars including Rita Hayworth, James Dean, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, and others. These friendships allowed him access to capture un-posed moments on the set of films. Many of his photographs were kept private and not seen until after his death.
