Offered to you is this very rare original 1900s Japanese Secession Art Nouveau letter tray. The Secession is name adopted by these German and Austrian artists of the late 19th century who opposed the system of the salon. Secession art historians consider the term as synonymous with the Art Nouveau. The tray is made of gilded white metal in Art Nouveau style that very much resembles the work of Alphonse Maria Mucha famous Czech sculptor and artist. It is decorated with relief floral elements all along the rim and very detailed scene of three Geishas dancing and playing on music instruments. The gold finish could be partially seen over some places as long with the authentic green patina. For condition please see photos. Measures: 6" x 7 1/2". Scarce and collectable item.
