Attributed to B. Prabha, Indian, 1933 to 2001, oil painting on canvas depicting four young ladies in traditional costumes in a landscape, circa 1980s. Signed lower right. B. Prabha is known for Female portrait, figure, genre easel and mural painting. B. Prabha entered the art world at a time when few Indian women were professionally involved in the art world. Having grown up in the small Indian village of Bela, near Nagpur, India, her work found perennial themes in the lives of rural women, and the artist continually explored an array of related subjects alluding to society, identity and gender equality.
