REMBRANDT HARMENSZ. VAN RIJN (Leiden 1606–1669 Amsterdam) Self portrait in a flat cap. Circa 1642. Etching on laid paper. Signed at the top of the plate: Rembrandt. 9.5 x 6.2 cm (sheet size: 11 x 7.9 cm). Framed. Bartsch 26; Hinterding/Rutgers (New Hollstein) 210 III (of III). - Good, even and clear impression with light plate tone and margins around the plate edge. Minor signs of age and handling. At the upper edge, outside the subject, slightly browned and with negligible surface soiling. Verso, mounted along the upper edge with mounting tape in a mount; this has caused a slight horizontal crease, faintly visible on the recto. A few small thin spots in the paper. Verso with faint adhesive traces from a removed mounting along the sheet edges. - Overall in good condition. ------------------------------------------------- REMBRANDT HARMENSZ. Gerahmt. Bartsch 26; Hinterding/Rutgers (New Hollstein) 210 III (von III). - Schöner, gleichmässiger und klarer Druck mit leichtem Plattenton und mit Rand um die Plattenkante. Leichte Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. Am oberen Rand ausserhalb der Darstellung wenig gebräunt und unbedeutend angeschmutzt. Rückseitig am oberen Rand mit Montierungsband in ein Passepartout montiert. Dadurch leichte horizontale Knickfalte, die auf der Vorderseite schwach sichtbar ist. Einzelne kleine Dünnstellen im Papier. Verso umlaufend an den Blattkanten mit schwachen Klebespuren einer entfernten Montierung. - Insgesamt in guter Erhaltung.
