REMBRANDT HARMENSZ. VAN RIJN (Leiden 1606–1669 Amsterdam) Self portrait with a scarf. 1633. Etching on laid paper without watermark. Signed and dated in the plate on the lower margin: Rembrandt f. 1633. 13.4 x 10.4 cm (sheet size: 14.2 x 11.6 cm). Framed. Bartsch 17; Hinterding/Rutgers (The New Hollstein) 120 III (of V, before the light area below the left eye). - Good, clear and even impression with margins around the plate edge. The upper right corner with a paper loss outside the plate; the upper and lower left corners each with a backed thin spot, the lower left also with a small paper loss. At the upper edge left, probably with a professionally restored short tear. Verso, secured along the upper edge with mounting tape in a mount. Im unteren Bildrand gestochen signiert und datiert: Rembrandt f. 1633. 13,4 x 10,4 cm (Blattgrösse: 14,2 x 11,6 cm). Gerahmt. Bartsch 17; Hinterding/Rutgers (The New Hollstein) 120 III (von V, vor der hellen Stelle unterhalb des linken Auges). - Schöner, klarer und gleichmässiger Druck mit Rand um die Plattenkante. Die obere rechte Ecke mit Papierverlust ausserhalb der Druckplatte, die obere und untere linke Ecke jeweils mit hinterlegter Dünnstelle, unten zusätzlich mit kleinem Papierverlust. Am oberen Rand links wohl mit fachmännisch restauriertem Einriss. Rückseitig mit Montierungsband am oberen Rand in einem Passepartout fixiert. Wenige Alters- und Gebrauchsspuren. - Insgesamt in guter Erhaltung.
