A Chinese Scroll Painting by Wang Xi Meng (1300 x 48.5cm) Wang Ximeng (1096-?), a famous painter in the late Northern Song Dynasty, was one of the only talented young artists in Chinese painting history who became famous for his single painting. However, there is no record of him in historical books. Wang Ximeng entered the palace to study painting at the age of over ten and became a student, but did not start working hard. During the reign of Emperor Huizong of Song, Zhao Ji was a student of the Painting Academy. Later, he was summoned to the Forbidden Chinese Library and served around Emperor Huizong. Emperor Huizong of Song had a unique insight and believed that his nature could be taught, so he personally taught him the method. Wang Ximeng was personally taught and instructed by Zhao Ji on the techniques of brushwork and ink, and his skills were advanced, leading to his paintings surpassing the standard.
