Showing a series of images from the area around Izmir on the Turkish Aegean coast, as well as portraits of Greek and Jewish women from Izmir in traditional costumes. From Henry Chatelain's monumental seven-volume "Atlas Historique", published between 1705 and 1720 by L'Hoinore & Chatelain Libraires; 1721; the text was by Nicholas Gueudeville and Garillon, the maps were engraved by Chatelain, mostly after Guillaume De L'Isle. Titled above the illustration: "Habillemens Des Femmes De Smyrne, Des Grecques Et Des Juives De Cette Ville"; German: "Die Gewänder der Frauen aus Izmir, der Griechinnen und Jüdinnen aus dieser Stadt"; verso titled in lead and subsequently provided with collection number: "501247". The decorative and detailed print makes an excellent impression and is well preserved, browned and foxed due to its age; the vertical centrefold is torn in the lower part as well as at the lower edge to the right, the image is not affected; there are traces of creasing in the margin and diagonally at the sheet corners.
