This decorative sheet highlights the wildlife found in and around the Dutch colonies in West Africa. It illustrates 24 species, including various quadrupeds, lizards, birds, a snake, and a scorpion. A vignette at left depicts Dutch colonists firing upon an elephant around Elmira Castle in present-day Ghana. At right another vignette shows natives hunting wild boar outside Fida, a slave trading post in present-day Benin. The illustrations are surrounded by French text.
