This original lithograph, La Femme au Fauteuil, 16.2.1947 (Woman in the Armchair) was created February 16, 1947 and so dated in the lithographic stone. Printed on Arches paper, it is numbered from the edition of 50 and signed in red crayon. ñFemme au Fauteuilî is considered to be one of PicassoÍs graphic masterpieces in lithography. Francoise Gilot, Picasso's lover at the time, modeled for the work the same year her son Clause was born. Created in 6 colors that Picasso specified in writing at the bottom of the page: "vert Rouge bleu violet, jaune (super scribed 'violet'), noir", he created various proofs of this image adding colors successively until the image as shown here was created. It marks one of Picasso's most significant experiments using color in printmaking to date and is widely considered to still be one of his most colorful and beautiful lithographs
