Peter Kogler (b. 1959) Peter Kogler is a native of Innsbruck and belongs to the most famous contemporary artists of Austria. He studied at the arts school Innsbruck and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. He was a professor at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, the Académie des Beaux-Arts le Mans, the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, and the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich since 2008. His works were represented at all essential exhibitions of the past years, like the documenta IX (1992) and X (1997), and the Venice Biennale (1986, 1993, 2006). Kogler had solo exhibitions at the MoMa in New York (2006) and the Centre Pompidou in Paris (2012). In 2008, the Viennese MUMOK, and in 2010 the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt followed with solo exhibitions. Peter Kogler achieved to create a visual world of all-over-systems of pipes, labyrinths, wallpapers and his so-called ‘brain images’.
