To Geiger, color was the most important element of his work. In this sheet, he shows an oval in orange on a bright yellow background and creates a contrast in colors. The sheet is signed by the artist. The screen print in color 'Variation Round Color V' is framed under black mat in an aluminum frame. Frame and work are in good condition with traces of age and wear. The sheet is minimally sunned. The size of the depiction is 45 x 31.2 cm, the dimensions of the sheet are 48.5 x 34.3 cm, and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 62.5 x 52.5 cm. Rupprecht Geiger (1908-2009) The German abstract painter, graphic artist and sculptor Rupprecht Geiger was the son of the painter Willi Geiger. In 1929, Rupprecht Geiger completed his architecture studies at the arts school in Munich before continuing his studies at the Staatsbauschule (National Building School). After graduating, he worked in different architecture firms until 1962. At the same time he began to paint and he served as a war painter between 1943 and 1944, before working as a painting professor at the arts academy in Düsseldorf. He was a founding member of the artists group Zen 49 in Munich. He exhibited his works repeatedly at the documenta in Kassel as well as the Biennale in Sao Paolo. In 2008, he was honoured with two large retrospectives in the Lenbachhaus in Munich and the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Furthermore, he received numerous European prizes. Rupprecht Geiger (1908 - 2009) Der deutsche Maler, Grafiker und Bildhauer Rupprecht Geiger war der Sohn des Malers Willi Geiger. 1929 schloss Rupprecht Geiger sein Architekturstudium an der Kunstgewerbeschule in München ab bevor er an der Staatsbauschule weiterstudierte. Nach seinem Studium war er bis 1962 in verschiedenen Architekturbüros tätig. Ab 1965 war er als Professor für Malerei an der Staatlichen Kunstakademie Düsseldorf tätig. Er war Mitbegründer der Künstlergruppe ZEN 49 in München. Er stellte wiederholt auf der documenta in Kassel sowie auf der Biennale von Sao Paolo aus. 2008 wurde er mit zwei großen Retrospektiven im Lenbachhaus in München und an der Neuen Nationalgalerie in Berlin geehrt. Darüber hinaus wurde er mit zahlreichen europäischen Preisen ausgezeichnet.
