Walter Schnackenberg (1880-1961) who has often been referred to as the "Toulouse-Lautrec of Germany", was a well-known graphic designer, poster artist, cosume and set designer active primarily in the Munich theatre and dance scene. The plates include lithographs of Schnackenberg's poster designs for das Deutsche Theater in Munich, das Odeon-Casino, the Laederlappen in Stockholm and others. Photographers include: Setzer of Vienna, Greiner of Munich, A. Binder of Berlin, and Schenker of Berlin. The photographic reproductions are printed in gravure and include some of the most noted dancers of the time, such as: Anita Berber in her role as "Bingha", Peter Pathe as "Licht und Schatten", Maria Hagen as "Walzer" and Lo Hesse with Joachim von Seewitz in Maskerade. - Light foxing on the first free endpaper, binding slightly loose, plates bright, fresh and in excellent condition.
