Differential taxation is not possible Rosemarie Pierer, the Grande Dame of photography, was regarded a pioneer of multi vision in the fifties. At the young age of eight it was her biggest wish to get her own camera. Pierer is known for her photographs that are beautiful in the combination of highest technical standards with artful composition. Depicted here is the French fashion designer Jacques Fath in Paris, lying on the floor of his studio, making a sketch. Some parts are touches up possibly for printing purposes. The photograph is inscribed verso in pencil ‘Jacques Fath’ and in ballpen ‘Foto: R. Pierer Magdalenenstrasse 12 Hamburg 13’. The inscriptions from the reverse are pushing through to the front. Along the margins are visible smears. On the surface are slight handling creases and scratches. The dimensions are 23.9 x 18.2 cm. Rosemarie Pierer (1918-2012) The German Photographer Rosemarie Pierer was born in Bernburg, but moved to Hamburg in 1949, where she founded her own studio. The famous photograph and model Inge Schönthal, later Feltrinelli, was trained by the Grande Dame of German photography in the 1950s. Pierer worked for the ‘Thalia-Theater’ and for many different companies, such as Beiersdorf, Deutsche Airbus, Philips, Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg, Maico. In her last years she concentrated again on portrait-photographs, among others Architect Hadi Teherani and former chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
