James P. Kerr (American, b. 1953), Piedmont Farmhouse oil on canvas, signed lower right, inscribed to verso, framed. Stretcher size 30 x 30 in.; Frame dimensions 37 1/4 x 37 1/2 in. Born in Buffalo, New York, James Kerr began his art studies at a young age. Two of his greatest mentors were Lazlo Szabo, a renowned portrait painter and Carl Illig, a prominent landscape painter. He describes his work as all about "capturing a moment in time." One of his paintings was recently selected by the U.S. Department of State for an Art in Embassies exhibition in Muscat, Oman.
