James P. Kerr (American, b, 1953), Ocean Crest Pier, Oak Island oil on canvas, signed lower right, inscribed to verso, framed. Stretcher size 16 x 20 in.; Frame dimensions 22 1/2 x 26 1/2 in. Born in Buffalo, New York, James Kerr began his art studies at a young age. Two of his greatest mentors were Lazlo Szabo, a renowned portrait painter and Carl Illig, a prominent landscape painter. He describes his work as all about "capturing a moment in time." One of his paintings was recently selected by the U.S. Department of State for an Art in Embassies exhibition in Muscat, Oman.
