Gervais Emmanuel Ducasse (Haitian/Port-au-Prince, 1903-1988), Petit Amusement Entre Paysans, circa 1970's, Oil on masonite, 9 3/4 x 11 7/8 inches, framed 15 x 17 1/4 inches. Framed in a vintage hand carved Haitian frame. Lot essay: Prior to becoming an artist, Ducasse worked for a governmental agriculture agency. He is renowned for historical and musical scenes. On a US sojourn, one of several, he painted narrative Haitian events with wintry upstate New York backgrounds.
