BRIGANTI, Nicholas (American, 1861-1944): Venetian Canal Scene with Fisherman, Oil/Canvas, 14" x 20", under glass in a pierce carved and gilded frame, 20" x 26.5". Brigante served in the Army during WWI and afterwards studied with McDonald-Wright with whom he shared an interest in oriental philosophy. His style evolved from watercolors of California mountains, to pre-historic man, automatic drawings and in the '60's working with a wet technique of India ink wash on heavy paper and after 1975 a series of acrylic paints.
