Burger was born in Frankfurt and attended the Städelschule. Afterwards he studied at the Munich Academy. The painting is in very good condition showing hardly any signs of age. The estate stamp appears on reverse ‘Anton Burger (No 49)’. The frame displays only minimal traces of wear. The image size is 25 x 26 cm and the overall dimensions are 36.5 x 38.5 cm.
