Bohumír Matal (1922-1988) PREHISTORIC LANDSCAPE. 1963. Oil and email on fibreboard, 95x151 cm, signed and dated lower right “Matal 63“. Framed. A large painting originating in the dynamically abstract period of the creative work of the artist. In 1960´s Matal began to be interested in the role of colour in the painting, experimented with new colours and for a short time left visual arts and geometrical forms. He left the colours to flow freely on the board surface and worked with shapes created in this way. The painting presented belongs to the highlights of this style. Flowing structures of white and green create wrinkled spaces which evoke the structure of the earth surface. Condition B. Bohumír Matal (1922-1988) PRAKRAJINA. 1963. V 60. letech se Bohumír Matal začal zajímat především o prvek barvy v obraze, experimentoval s novými barvami a nakrátko opustil zobrazivé umění i geometrizující formy. Barvy nechával volně stékat po podkadu a vzniklé tvary následně upravoval. Pomocí tohoto principu řízené náhody vznikaly organické struktury, kde vrstvy barev tvoří plastickou hmotu s krakely. Obraz Prakrajina patří k vrcholům z tohoto informelního období. Lité struktury bílé a zelené barvy dávají vzniknout zvrásněným plochám, které evokují členitost zemského povrchu. Stav B.
