Bohumír Matal (1922-1988) FIGURE. 1979. Oil on hardboard, 60x45 cm, signed and dated lower middle ‘Matal 79.’. The painting belongs to artist’s late period in which he turns away from Art Informel after a creative crisis at the end of 60’s and develops his thoughts connected with the cycle called Presence of Human. Matal leaves his atelier in Brno after the year 1970 and works in seclusion of his mill in Prudká near Doubravník. He creates characteristic, geometrically approached compositions of dense colours. Malba spadá do umělcova pozdního období, kdy se po tvůrčí krizi konce 60. let odvrací od informelu a rozvíjí myšlenky spojené s cyklem Přítomnost člověka. Matal po r. 1970 opouští svůj brněnský ateliér a pracuje v ústraní svého mlýna v Prudké u Doubravníka. Vytváří charakteristické geometricky pojaté kompozice hutné barevnosti.
