"From the Treeline" Colorful 19th century watercolor painting of pastoral Swiss landscape from Johann-Ulrich Burri (J. Url. Burri). 11 1/2 x 17 inches unframed, 16 x 21 1/2 inches. Burri was an accomplished artist who frequently depicted the landscapes of Switzerland and modern day Austria. His works are in numerous Swiss and Austrian collections in particular, such as the Zurich Library. Burri was most active between 1824 and 1846. He was born in Weisslingen in 1802 and died in Zurich in 1870. This painting "From the Tree Line" was most likely executed around 1835. The painting is set in a matt with gold metal borders encased in a contemporary gallery frame.
