DESCRIPTION: Abraham Straski (Polish, 1903-1987). Oil on canvas. Full length portrait of a Rabbi playing a violin. Signed in lower left corner "A. Straski". In carved wooden frame with burlap liner. Straski was a Polish born painter who immigrated to the United States after surviving the concentration camps during the Holocaust. As he grew up, he became close with the Rabbis from his local community who taught him violin, cello, and Torah. He draws inspiration from these Rabbis for his artwork. MEASUREMENTS: 23-1/2" x 19-1/2". Overall with frame 30-1/2" x 26-1/2". CONDITION: Light surface wear to frame, several threads from burlap coming loose. Separations at corners of frame.
