DESCRIPTION: Abraham Straski (Polish, 1903-1987). Oil on canvas. Full length portrait of a Rabbi seated at a desk, reading, glasses in hand. Signed in lower right corner "A. Straski". In copper color and black wooden frame with fabric liner. Straski was a Polish born painter who immigrated to the United States after surviving the concentration camps during the Holocaust. As he grew up, he became close with the Rabbis from his local community who taught him violin, cello, and Torah. He draws inspiration from these Rabbis for his artwork. MEASUREMENTS: 23-1/2" x 19-1/2". Overall with frame 31-1/8" x 27-1/8". CONDITION: Small flakes of paint missing. Some threads coming out of lining. Light surface wear to frame.
