Signed lower left: V. Irolli Vincenzo Irolli studied at the Accademia delle Belle Arti as of 1877, and was taught by Gioacchino Toma among other lecturers. He primarily attained international renown for his depictions of everyday scenes. His exhibited paintings in Paris, London and Munich testify to his popularity throughout Europe, and he even showed works at the Venice Biennale in 1922 and 1924. Despite this international success, Naples remained the centre of his artistic career, and here he became a member of the Circolo Artitstico Politecnico. From 1889 to 1890 he decorated the Gran Caffé Gambrinus in the heart of Naples together with a number of other artists from this circle. Vincenzo Irolli
