It is executed falt in modulating yellows and greens, as well as a little bright pink and rises monumentally from the lower sheet edge. Eyes, nose and mouth are only slightly indicated in the stylization typical for Antes. The watercolor is signed lower right in pencil 'Antes'. The sheet shows technique-related pin holes in the corners and is overall minor darkened. On verso it is mounted at several spots into a mat with double sided tape which minor shows through on recto. The overall condition is good. The frame is overall in good condition with signs of wear. The sheet measures 66 x 50.5 cm. The framed dimensions are 92 x 75.5 cm. Horst Antes (born 1936) The German artist Horst Antes studied under HAP Grieshaber at the Art Academy in Karlsruhe, where he started working as a professor of painting since 1967. As one of the first pioneers of contemporary figurative painting, Horst Antes concentrate on depicting figures. Inspired by the Kachina dolls of the Pueblo Indians, he developed the theme of the "Kopffüßler" which is featuring his work since 1962. Antes works as a painter, graphic artist and sculptor.
