Corten steel with engraving and natural rust patina Germany, 1987 Horst Antes (b. 1936) - German painter, graphic artist and sculptor With punched signature and numbering 'Antes 805/1000' on the base plate Published by Edition Volker Huber, Offenbach/Main Dimensions: 220 x 90 x 67 cm Very good condition Equally impressive as characteristic sculpture by the German artist Horst Antes; the auction record for a copy of 'Figur 1000' is currently set at more than 20.000 Euro. This steel sculpture by the German artist presents itself with monumental power. Although it does not show the typical shape of a cephalopod, but a male figure with neck and upper body, however in the emphasis of the head and the feet and the archaic, outline-like depiction in profile, the characteristic hand of the artist is clearly visible. This sculpture, which is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, was published in 1987 by Edition Volker Huber in Offenbach on the Main in an edition of 1,000 copies. The sculpture is provided with the punches signature and numbering 'Antes 805/1000' on the base plate. It is in very good condition with the usual natural rust patina of the steel. The sculpture measures 220 x 90 x 67 cm. Horst Antes (born 1936) The German artist Horst Antes studied from 1957 to 1959 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe, where HAP Grieshaber was his teacher. From 1965 to 2000 he is also a professor for painting there. As one of the pioneers of new approaches to representational painting Horst focuses on the presentation of figures. He developed the 'Kopffüßler' a monumental figure shown in profile, consisting of head and feet, which determines his work since 1962 in variations. Antes is a painter, graphic artist and sculptor. His works has been exhibited internationally and is to find in the collections of major museums such as the Kunsthalle Hamburg, the Sprengel Museum in Hannover or the Guggenheim Museum in New York.
