It shows a fjord with towering mountains in a vivid colour palette. Two fishermen work in the foreground, while a boat and a ship are seen in the distance. The painting is in good condition with craquelure as well as framing traces around the edges and slight pressure marks from the stretcher frame in the centre of the canvas. The frame displays traces of age and wear with some loss of material. The painting is signed lower left, "G. Rasmussen". The canvas is also inscribed "G. Rasmussen" three times on the back. The dimensions are roughly 96 x 126 cm (framed) and ca. 60.5 x 90 cm (stretcher frame). Georg Anton Rasmussen (1842-1914) Georg Anton Rasmussen studied at the arts academies in Copenhagen and Düsseldorf and trained under Johan Ludvig Losting, Anders Askevold, Frederik Rohde and Oswald Achenbach. He counts among the most productive and sought-after Fjord painters of his time.
