(Italian, 1712-1793)A pair, Views of The Piazza San Marco, Venice: one view looking towards the Basilica and Campanile with the [Procurate Vecchie] and [Procuratie Nuove] on either side; one with view toward San Geminiano, unsigned, oil on canvas, 28-1/2 x 34-7/8 in.; matching late 18th/early 19th century Tuscan style frames with fruit, flower and leaf garland decoration, stretched on 19th century strainer, crackle, some flaking, canvases loose, yellowed varnish, view of San Geminiano with loosely repaired tear and retouch at bottom center figure, paintings are executed on 18th century canvas over a resized 18th century painting; frames with wear and insect damage; lot accompanied by a conservation assessment by the Atlanta Art Conservation Center Provenance: Arthur and Alice Dewey, Eastlake, Ohio; By Descent in Family (possibly collected by family earlier than late 19th century)
