He studied science and philosophy at the University of Vienna, attended the private painting school by David Kohn and Anton Hlaváček (about simultaneously with Ernst Czernotzky) and created landscapes, genres scenes and portraits; Founding member of the Kunstschau, 1925 member of the Hagenbund, 1937-1939 of the Secession and from 1939 of the Künstlerhaus; friend of Egon Schiele (of whom he took portrait photographs from 1915) and protégé of Arthur Roessler. Works in Albertina and the Austrian gallery; Reichel Prize, State Prize (1937), rejected by the National Socialists (represented in 1938 in the exhibition "degenerate art").
