Johann Nepomuk Franz Xaver STRIXNER published together with Ferdinand Piloty from 1808 to 1815 a series of 432 lithographs after hand drawings of old masters and specialised in the lithographic reproduction of works of old art. He became particularly well known for his reproduction of the collection of paintings by the brothers Sulpiz and Melchior Boisserée and their friend Johann Baptist Bertram in the form of a larger lithographic work, which appeared in 114 sheets in several deliveries between 1821 and 1840.
