Private collection North Rhine Westphalia. Roman Opalka was fascinated by the concept of making Time visible. His number paintings, starting from number one to infinity, are considered today classic pieces of Modern art and have been already sold for seven figure amounts in the international art market. ´´The meaning of my life rests upon senselessness, arranging logical signs, without a real objective, on the way to myself.´´ Roman Opalka Object is regular taxed. 19% VAT is added to the purchase price for deliveries within the EU. The paper features a slight brownish tone and is mounted on a passepartout, verso fixed on two points. The sheet dimensions are 32.7 x 23.9 cm and the frame measures 56.6 x 47.5 cm. Roman Opalka (1931-2011) Born in Northern France, Opalka began a training as print maker at the age of 16. He went to art school in Łódź in 1949 and studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. In the mid 1960´s Opalk began to produce the first series paintings featuring progressive numbers. Throughout his lifetime Opalka was represented in several international exhibitions, as for instance in 1977 in Kassel´s documenta 6. Some of his most important oeuvres are today kept in the Museum of Modern Art and in the Guggenheim Foundation in New York. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
