Indian ink and colored oil crayon on light mould-made watercolor paper Germany, presumably 1950 Rudolf Ausleger (1897-1974) - German painter of the November Group Sheet dimensions: 41.4 x 59.4 cm Brown-black profile frame with white golden inner bar: 60.5 x 70 cm Good condition Provenance: from the inventory of a former Berlin gallery Harmonic decorative composition by the German artist Rudolf Ausleger; the auction record for a signed paper work by the painter is currently set at more than €15,000. In decoratively simplified line and stylized form the German painter has composed a still life of several Cognac glasses and a bottle. The objects are arranged on a on a plane surface that occupies the sheet in full width and half the height, and is not defined in detail. The coloring is also reduced to areas of light blue, green and yellow-brown tones. The result is a balanced, harmonious composition. Condition: The work is overall in good condition. The sheet is age-related minor, along the edges somewhat, darkened. It is mounted to a mat reversible at the reverse upper corners and affixed at the lower corners. The frame is in good condition with slight signs of wear. The sheet measures 41.4 x 59.4 cm. The framed dimensions are 60.5 x 70 cm. Rudolf Ausleger (1897-1974) Rudolf Ausleger was born in Weissenfels in Saxony-Anhalt. He received his artistic training in Berlin at the private art school Reimann and the Staatliche Kunstschule, an educational institution for art teachers. One of his teachers was Georg Tappert. As a soldier during the First World War he met painters, who later became members of the November Group that was founded in 1918. Ausleger also joined this association in 1920, whose aim was to connect art and people. Characteristic is a non-uniform syncretism of style, which is sometimes also referred to as "Kubofuturoexpressionism". Ausleger remained a member until the organization until its break up in the early 1930s and was obliterated from the register of associations in 1935 by the Nazis. From 1921 Rudolf Ausleger got various teaching assignments at schools, including school Reimann. From 1949 to 1967, he worked as an art teacher at the Pädagogische Hochschule Berlin.
