Monogrammed 'Ag' in black lower right, signed and dated 'Ausleger 4748' in black to the reverse of the canvas and inscribed '1' (encircled). The young Rudolf Ausleger met Georg Tappert in 1916 during his military service. Tappert became his artistic mentor and teacher. In the 1920s, Ausleger exhibited with the artists of the Novembergruppe. His art was considered "degenerate" under the National Socialist regime, and the majority of his works were destroyed during the war. Also his later works remain inspired by synthetic Cubism. 120.5 x 100.5 cm
